Assistant teacher

Description:

The assistant teacher actively participates in planning and implementing the curriculum, working with parents, and assessing the needs of individual children under the guidance of the lead teacher.  The assistant teacher may work with infants, toddlers or preschoolers.  The assistant teacher is also responsible for assuring compliance with codes of all state and local governing agencies and work collegially with other staff members.

Responsibilities:

  • maintain open, friendly and cooperative communication with each child's family and encourage their involvement in the program
  • daily attendance
  • maintain a safe environment
  • assist the lead teacher with daily planning and execution of classroom and outdoor activities that are developmentally appropriate
  • assist the lead teacher to create a classroom environment that is welcoming, engaging and appropriate
  • support the social and emotional development of children
  • interact with children

Qualifications:

  • minimum of high school diploma or GED required
  • completion of background check
  • flexible and adaptable to meet the needs of the children and the program
  • strong collaboration skills
  • ability to effectively plan, organize and implement activities with children
  • proof of COVID vaccination required
Minimum Education Level: Highschool Graduate or GED
