Child Development Associate (CDA) credential

The Child Development Associate (CDA) credential, a nationally recognized credential issued by the Council for Professional Recognition, is often the first step for those who want to work in an early childhood setting.

Requirements

A high school diploma or equivalency
120 hours of formal education training
480 hours of professional work experience

The CUNY School of Professional Studies offers a credit-bearing, four-course CDA certificate program in partnership with the Institute's Early Childhood Career Development Center.

Children’s Program Administrator Credential (CPAC)

The Children's Program Administrator Credential (CPAC) is a state-recognized credential developed by The New York State Association for the Education of Young Children that addresses essential components for running early childhood and school-age programs.

Requirements

Associate's degree (or 60 credits toward a bachelor's)
18 credits in child development
18 credits in children's program administration

The CUNY School of Professional Studies offers a graduate-level, 18-credit program in partnership with the Institute's Career Development Center leading to the CPAC.
