The professional working with young children creates, implements, and revises management policies and procedures

Maintains defined roles and responsibilities for governing boards and parent advisory committees

Uses strategic planning to ensure the long-term success and effectiveness of the program

Has written policies and procedures that demonstrate how the program prepares for, orients and welcomes new families, as well as supports family involvement in all aspects of the program

Has written policies and procedures to attract and retain a qualified, well-trained staff

Ensures that the curriculum is developmentally appropriate and aligned with recent research and knowledge of best practices

Maintains a system for individualized, ongoing child assessment and documentation that is related to planning programs, services, referrals, and transitions to other services and programs

Makes sure that the program follows a written plan for assessment that addresses the purposes, procedures and uses of assessment results, and adheres to assessment timelines

Organizes and staffs the program to minimize the number of transitions experienced by an individual child during the day and program year
