Competency Description

The professional working with young children communicates with and provides support to families about children's nutrition and mealtime experiences

Behaviors & Skills

Works with each family to understand the nutritional needs of their child and to make sure that the food provided at the program meets those needs

Shares the program’s menu with families

Supports a mother’s decision to breastfeed and accommodates breastfeeding mothers, including storing milk and providing space

Provides families of infants and toddlers with a log of the types of foods and the quantities eaten each day (if applicable)
