Key Responsibilities:

Curriculum Planning & Classroom Leadership:

• Design and implement daily lesson plans that meet the social, emotional, cognitive, and physical developmental milestones of young children.
• Maintain a well-structured, clean, and organized classroom environment that promotes active learning, independence, and positive peer interaction.
• Monitor and record individual child progress, maintaining accurate observational records, developmental portfolios, and screening assessments.

• Lead, guide, and supervise Assistant Teachers and classroom aides to maintain a cohesive teaching team.

   

Health, Safety & Compliance:

• Provide constant and competent supervision of all children at all times, ensuring required staff-to-child ratios are strictly maintained.
• Implement positive, constructive behavior management techniques in accordance with NYC Health Code regulations (strictly prohibiting corporal punishment or humiliating discipline).
• Conduct daily health checks of children upon arrival and adhere to all infection control, hygiene, sanitization, and mealtime supervision protocols.
• Ensure strict adherence to the center's written Safety Plan, emergency drills, and incident reporting procedures.

Family Engagement & Professional Development:

• Foster open communication with parents and guardians through daily logs, progress updates, and formal parent-teacher conferences.
• Maintain active membership in the NYS Aspire Registry and track professional development hours.
• Participate in staff meetings, DOHMH-mandated workshops, and continuous professional training hours as required by city and state guidelines.

Qualifications

• Proven experience working with children in preschool or daycare settings, with a strong understanding of childhood development principles.
• Demonstrated expertise in curriculum development, lesson planning, and classroom management techniques.
• Knowledge of special education strategies and early intervention practices to support diverse learning needs.
• Experience with literacy education, math instruction, physical education, and Montessori methodologies is highly desirable.
• Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with children, parents, and team members.
• Familiarity with standardized testing procedures and tutoring techniques for early learners.
• Prior experience in private schools or daycare environments is preferred; preschool experience is essential.
