The Lead Teacher is responsible for overall classroom operations, providing quality care, education, and supervision to children in a daycare or early childhood setting. Providing leadership and guidance in implementing a comprehensive early childhood education program for children and families enrolled in the Preschool/Head Start Program. Develop a working knowledge about Early Childhood Learning Standards, Core Body of Knowledge. Developmentally appropriate practice guidelines, as well as age-appropriate activities to promote the children’s physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development. Office of child and family services regulations and requirements, hold certificates in emergency first aid and CPR for appropriate age levels, know CPS reporting requirements and how service children with special needs. The Education specialist, teaching assistants, and administrative staff will give support as needed.

Job qualification

CDA and/or SAC Certification is required. Two to four years of related working experience in a daycare, preschool, or early childhood education setting required. Must complete 15 hours per year of OCFS training as well as bus monitor training required. Relevant certifications in early childhood education, childcare, or related field is preferred but not required. Β Passion for working with children and supporting their growth and development. Patience, flexibility, and a nurturing attitude when engaging with children. Knowledge of child development principles, age-appropriate teaching methods, and early learning standards. Must have competent technological skills and specifically be able to work with MS Office 365 Suite. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with children, parents/guardians, and colleagues. Ability to create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment. Organizational skills to manage daily activities, maintain records, and plan lessons. CPR and First Aid certification required. Understanding of and compliance with licensing regulations and safety guidelines. Must have the ability to work in a diverse cultural environment.Β  Knowledge of Seneca customs, traditions, and practices is helpful.
