The Floater is responsible for helping in the classrooms and assisting the family worker. This will include a variety of tasks including classroom supports and family worker supports as needed.
- In the classroom the floater is responsible for the creation of a responsive, age-appropriate experience that fosters the physical, social, emotional, and intellectual growth of the children.
- In the office the floater is responsible for assisting the family worker with implementing and participating in a coordinated approach to ERSEA (Eligibility, Recruitment, Selection, Enrollment, Attendance), Health Services, Family and Community Engagement, and Mental Health services for the promotion of overall family wellness.
Classroom Teacher Aide Role
- Perform the functions of this position with a strong understanding of the Head Start Performance Standards and the component plans; and thorough knowledge and application of Developmentally Appropriate Practices
- Assist in facilitating activities of the children, including: daily activities, field trips, selecting and arranging equipment and materials in the classroom
- Collaborate with other staff and classroom team members to maintain the function of classroom, focused on meeting the needs of children both collect and individual
- Assist in maintaining a safe and healthy classroom environment. Assure that classroom equipment, furniture, materials, and supplies are properly maintained and stored;
- Assist in conducting daily health checklist and monthly environment checklist
- Assist in assuring that files are complete, accurate, and confidentially is maintained
- Perform other duties, as may be required
Family Worker Role
- Perform the functions of this position with a strong understanding of the Head Start Program Performance Standards in addition to local, state and other federal guidelines
- Assure program is in compliance with the ERSEA Protocol
- Monitor compliance using electronic data management systems
- Participate and coordinate the development and progress of family engagement activities including Family Engagement Goal Setting
- Assist, clarify, and communicate disability services, standards, and regulations to parent when required and/or requested
- Establish and maintain communication with parents to ensure opportunities for active program involvement and intervention services
- Maintain family service files to assure files are complete, accurate and confidentiality is maintained in accordance with agency specific requirements, local, state and federal requirements
- Monitor and collect data for funding streams, monthly reports and annual program information report (PIR)
- Perform other duties, as may be required
- A High School Diploma or GED
- Within 18 months of hire, at a minimum, a credential or certification in social work, human services, family services, counseling or a related field.
- Within 18 months of hire, at a minimum, a credential or certification early childhood education or related field.
- Experience working with children
- Will support families that predominantly speak Spanish or Bengali and others, may be required depending on client needs
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products
- Ability to plan and carry out assignments independently
- Ability to prioritize, adhere to timelines and multi-task
- Minimum Education Level: Highschool Graduate or GED
- Preferred Education Level: CDA Credential
