Our children learn in French, and they also develop their fluency in the many languages of the natural world, visual art, music, and movement. Each year, as the children and our surroundings evolve and change, we reinvent ourselves together and enlarge the horizons of our collective perception.

French Immersion Preschool | Brooklyn, Clinton Hill

The Language and Laughter Studio (LLS) is a small, progressive French immersion preschool in Brooklyn, serving children ages 1–5. We are currently welcoming applications from French-speaking educators interested in joining our community as Assistant Teachers and Lead Teachers

LLS is a deeply relational school. We see early childhood not simply as a stage of learning, but as one of the most transformative periods of a child’s life: when curiosity is wide open, emotions are deeply felt, and relationships shape everything. Our school is designed to feel like a second home: a place where children can be themselves, make mistakes, explore freely, and feel held by caring adults.

Our Approach

Our Mini-Maternelle program is held entirely in French, offering children a true immersive experience. French is the language of play, art, storytelling, daily routines, and social connection. 

Our curriculum is play-based, inquiry-driven, and rooted in real experiences. Children spend significant time outdoors in all seasons.

We also believe deeply in reflective practice among educators. Our team regularly engages in dialogue about child development, emotional growth, boundaries, care, and what it means to support young children in today’s world.

The Role 

At LLS, we are seeking an early-childhood educator who meets children with presence, care, and curiosity.
We believe deeply in our relationship to all living things, and we want our children to be rooted in nature before they reach toward technology.

Our teachers create warm, intentional, and engaging environments where children grow through open-ended exploration of their world. Classrooms are fully immersed in the French language.

Teachers support each child’s social-emotional journey with kindness and respect. They collaborate with colleagues, prepare materials, and create an inspiring learning space for young children.

Clear, open communication with both the teaching team and families is essential.

• Fluent in French (native or near-native)

Qualifications

•  Prior experience in French school setting is a plus, but not required
• Bachelor’s in Early Childhood Education or related field (Child psychology, child development, elementary education, special education)
• High school diploma + 5 years experience working in preschools or in child care settings
• New York State teaching certificate (Optional)
