La Escuelita is a NAEYC accredited dual language (Spanish-English) preschool serving children ages 2-5. We value early acquired bilingualism, diversity in all its forms and a combination of play based and teacher directed learning. Founded in 2003, La Escuelita is the oldest Spanish-English preschool in Manhattan.
This position is for a Bilingual Preschool Music Teacher/Floater in a dual language program for the 2025-2026 School Year. The work year is August 25, 2025 through end of June 18, 2026, with a potential opportunity to work Summer Program. Music Teachers are expected to plan and implement high quality education experiences with language enrichment for young children. The role involves creating and leading music-based lessons for young children that include singing, movement, and simple instruments, while also supporting their overall development. Key duties include developing age-appropriate lesson plans, managing classroom behavior, collaborating with other teachers, and preparing materials. The role requires creativity, flexibility, and strong communication skills to foster a fun and engaging learning environment. Music classes will be conducted in Spanish.
The ideal candidate will be bilingual in both English and Spanish, will have extensive experience with young children, and be enrolled in an Early Childhood Education, Music Education or related field program. When not conducting music classes, the candidate will serve as floater in the school.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and implement curriculum:
Create and lead developmentally appropriate music classes that incorporate singing, rhythm, movement, and instruments.
- Foster early learning:
Use songs, storytelling, and interactive activities to support children's cognitive, social, and emotional development.
- Manage classroom:
Establish and maintain a positive and orderly learning environment, supervising students during lessons and other activities.
- Collaborate with staff:
Work with other teachers and administrators to align music lessons with classroom themes and school goals.
- Prepare and maintain materials:
Organize and prepare teaching materials, ensuring they are ready for each lesson.
- Assist with events:
Help organize and participate in special events like school performances and assemblies.

- Minimum Education Level: Associate's Degree
- Preferred Education Level: Bachelor's Degree
