General Description
Responsible for developing, implementing, and managing an age/developmentally appropriate program for children, ages three to five years of age that follows the philosophies, policies and procedures set forth by the Board of Directors, the NYS OCFS Daycare regulations, Department of Health and Child Adult Care Food Program. Areas of responsibility include:
- Program/Curriculum
- Environment/Climate Design
- Child, Parent and Staff Relationships
- Health/Safety
- Nutrition and Feeding
- Professionalism
- Leadership/Supervisory Skills
Qualifications
The Preschool Lead Teachers must meet the requirements set forth by the NYS OCFS Daycare regulations. It is preferred that the Lead Preschool Teacher have an A.A.S. in Early Childhood Education with a B.A. in Education with current N-6 Certification and at least one year teaching experience in an Early childhood setting. The person holding this position must be a team player, flexible, reliable, energetic, and enjoy working with young children and their families. The person holding this position must be able to provide leadership and supervise others effectively.
{Prescool 4 Ratio - 1:8} Responsibilities include but are not limited to planning age-appropriate activities, maintaining an appropriate daily routine, maintaining positive parent/caregiver relationships, being a positive role model for parents and staff and working as a team player with the SPCCC administration and staff.
To qualify, Group Teachers for Preschool must possess:
· an Associate degree in Early Childhood, Child Development or related field or
· a Child Development Associate Credential or other Office-recognized credential specific to the preschool developmental period; and one year of experience related to caring for children (preschool only) or
· 9 college credits in Early Childhood, Child Development or a related field, with a plan of study leading to a Child Development Associate Credential, other Office-recognized credential specific to the preschool developmental period, or an Associate’s degree in Early Childhood, Child Development or a related field; and two years of experience related to caring for children)
- Minimum Education Level: Some College Credits
- Preferred Education Level: Associate's Degree
