Job Description

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

·       The lead teacher must be able to work collaboratively within a team. The lead teacher must have effective classroom management.  He or she must also demonstrate a strong ability to manage time and adhere to deadlines.  He or should also demonstrate leadership skills, be able to multitask and take initiative. 

·       The Lead Teacher must complete mandatory 2 hours of training in child abuse maltreatment, identification, reporting and prevention. In addition, the lead teacher must complete a minimum of 15 hours of training each year in subjects related to child health, safety, supervision and early childhood development.

·       The Lead Teacher will uphold and respect the confidentiality of student records and parent information. 

·       The Lead Teacher is responsible to assist the Education Director in making sure Starrett Early Learning Center is clean, safe and in compliance to Department of Health regulations on a daily basis.

·       The Lead Teacher is responsible for the implementation of curriculum and instructional learning formats. He or she will develop weekly lesson plans and will assess student learning and understanding of concepts. 

·       The lead teacher is responsible for developing progress reports based on authentic assessment and data.

·        The lead teacher will meet individually with parents at least three times per school calendar year to discuss student development and progress.

·       The Lead Teacher is responsible to ensure safety, direct supervision of students, cleanliness and organization in maintained in the classroom at all times

Qualifications

·       NYS teaching license or certification in either Early Childhood(Birth-Grade 2); (Nursery-6);

Pre-K-6); Students with Disabilities (Birth- Grade 2)

·       Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood or related field

  • Minimum Education Level: Bachelor's Degree
  • Preferred Education Level: NYS Teacher Certification
