Job Description

CHP is seeking a warm, creative, and dependable Afterschool Lead Teacher to join our team for the 2025–2026 school year. This part-time position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with young children in a relaxed, engaging, and child-led setting. The Afterschool Lead will create a safe and nurturing environment for preschool-aged children during the afterschool hours and take the lead in planning and implementing developmentally appropriate activities that reflect the children’s interests.

This is a great opportunity for educators who are looking for part-time work in a collaborative and mission-driven school community.

Responsibilities
  • Create a consistent, joyful, and nurturing environment during afterschool hours (3:15 PM–6:15 PM, Monday–Friday)

  • Plan and facilitate simple, play-based activities that support children’s interests and development

  • Support smooth transitions from the school day to afterschool time, including rest, snack, and outdoor play

  • Supervise and engage children in both indoor and outdoor settings

  • Ensure the physical and emotional safety of all children at all times

  • Build trusting, respectful relationships with children and collaborate closely with co-teachers and school leadership

  • Communicate effectively with families at pick-up and relay any important updates or observations

  • Help maintain a clean and organized classroom environment

Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree preferredΒ 

  • Prior experience working with young children in a school, camp, or childcare setting

  • Ability to confidently lead a group of young children with warmth, clarity, and flexibility

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills

  • Commitment to inclusive and anti-bias practices

  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work all scheduled hours consistently

  • Must be 18 years or older; preference given to candidates pursuing or holding a degree in early childhood education or a related field

  • Minimum Education Level: Bachelor's Degree
