Job Description:Β Would you like to teach in a warm and nurturing learning environment where teachers are supported and creativity is encouraged? ABC is currently seeking a qualifiedΒ Assistant TeacherΒ at the Graham School (1841 Park Avenue) to support preschool children ages 3-5, some with IEPβs.
Job Description
- Create a nurturing, engaging and developmentally appropriate early childhood environment for preschool children
- Observe, assess, and document each childβs health, skills, behavior, growth, and development
- Maintain a clean, safe, and healthy classroom environment
- Assist in the development of the programβs educational curriculum in collaboration with Lead Teachers Related Service Providers, and other classroom staff.
- Plan and implement activities that support the social, emotional, physical, language, and cognitive development of each child
- Encourage parental participation and develop partnerships with families
- Maintain daily attendance and meal participation counts
Education and Experience Requirements of the Assistant Teacher
- Preschool CDA, OR an Associate's in Early Childhood required. A NYS Teaching Assistant Certification preferred.
- Spanish fluency preferred.
- Knowledge of early childhood and special education curriculum and developmentally appropriate practice for 0-4 age group
- Ability to work as a cooperative and supportive team member
- Ability to communicate and cooperate with parents
- Minimum Education Level: CDA Credential (with credit-bearing certificate)
- Preferred Education Level: Associate's Degree
