Fort Greene Council, Inc. (FGC) is a 501 (c) 3 not-for-profit organization established in Brooklyn, New York in 1973 and incorporated in 1974. The Council strives to provide services at several stages of the life cycle, at the beginning with our early childhood programs, and through the conclusion with our programs for the older adults. In Brooklyn, FGC provides services to the elderly from 14 Older Adult Clubs in seven community districts and one daycare center.
Young Minds offers a full-day child-centered program open to 2-year-olds, 3-year-olds, and pre-kindergarten (Universal pre-kindergarten 4-year-olds). Each child is accepted as an individual and recognized for their unique abilities. The program supports your future leader's learning and educational development. Cultural differences are valued and celebrated through creative expression, play, and various stimulating and engaging classroom activities.
We are currently seeking dedicated and passionate Group Teachers to join our team and educate our young learners. Our program is designed around a creative curriculum that encourages exploration, curiosity, and a love for learning. We aim to foster a nurturing and engaging environment where children can thrive and develop their skills. - Plans, organizes, and executes daycare curriculum, lesson plans, procedures, and documents accordingly.
- Implement a curriculum to provide positive learning experiences for children.
- Supervisor Assistant Teacher, Teachers Aide and volunteers
- Attend and participate in staff meetings and staff Development training/workshops
- Participate in the planning and implementation of field trips.
- Maintain a cooperative, professional relationship with all staff, parent/guardians, funding sources and volunteers/trainees.
- Prepare and conduct in parent-teacher conferences.
- Implements good safety practices in and outside of the classroom
- Conduct bimonthly written observations of children and communicate any concern to the Director.
- Assess the developmental needs of the children in a timely basis and plan activities to meet their individual needs.
- Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Possess (or be on track to hold by September 1, 2025) one of the following:
 Early Childhood (Birth-Grade 2) certification
Nursery, Kindergarten and Grades1-6 (N-6)
Pre-Kindergarten – Grade 6 (P- 6)
Paid or Volunteer Experience with children (2-5 years old)
At time of hire, if minimum qualifications are not met, an educational plan must be implemented and act to remain employed. Must be in good physical and mental health. Must have the ability to lift 40 or more pounds. Able to sit on the floor, bend down, and pick up children throughout the course of an eight-hour

Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood or a child-related field (Child Psychology, Child Development, Special Education, Students with Disabilities (B-2); or General Education)
Hold an Associate’s degree with a commitment to obtain NY State Early Childhood teacher certification within seven years of employment.
