Job Description

As An Early Childhood Mental Health Consultant, You Will:

  • Provide infant and early childhood mental health consultation and support to center and regulated home-based child care programs in Western New York
  • Collaborate with child care providers to:
    • Offer best-practice consultation that is culturally responsive to the child, the caregiver, and the early care and education setting
    • Assess strengths and challenges within the early child care setting
    • Make needed referrals for direct or additional services, as necessary
  • Demonstrate respect for cultural diversity
  • Work closely with the statewide project support team to ensure quality and effectiveness of services.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all client-protected health information and adhere to all HIPAA-related policies and procedures
  • Participate in external committees, task forces, community meetings, and visibility events as requested to promote the program, and to build professional practice networks, on local, regional, and/or national levels.
Qualifications

What YouÒ€ℒll Bring to this Position:

  • MasterÒ€ℒs Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, or other related counseling/mental health degrees and one year of direct child care experience; OR Bachelor Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Early Education and/or Childhood Education or related field and three years of direct child care experience; OR a related Associate Degree with six years of direct experience.
  • Working knowledge of infant and early childhood typical and atypical development, early childhood mental health, adverse childhood experiences, and family systems
  • Demonstrated experience with, or attention to equity, inclusion, and cultural humility.
  • Written and verbal communication skills, and ability to present and engage with diverse audiences, specifically racially, ethnically, and socioeconomically diverse communities.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively manage time.
  • A valid driverÒ€ℒs license and reliable transportation is needed.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • Valid NYS Driver License and a vehicle with current registration and insurance
  • Minimum Education Level: Bachelor's Degree
  • Preferred Education Level: Master's Degree
