Child Care Workers at YakΓ’β¬β’s Youth Center are individuals who love children and demonstrate a passion for their education and development. The Child Care teachers will demonstrate patience and will be someone that has a kind and personable nature that makes children feel comfortable and happy.ΓΒ We provide a safe, loving, fun environment where all families and children feel welcome, and their differences are celebrated. This individual must have a pleasant disposition, and be able to greet children, families, and co-workers with positive energy. They must have the ability to follow and execute tasks and follow the standard and expectations set by the lead teacher and center Director with attention to detail. This is not a sedentary position, the ability to lift children, bend, play on the floor and run across the room is important. Active supervision is the cornerstone of quality care in the classroom, on the playground, and anywhere the children are. This individual must be able to understand and follow the regulations set forth by the Office of Children and Family Services. Children learn best when they can follow the example of their teachers. The candidate should be prepared to work in a classroom of 14 children with one lead teacher for 8 hours daily, Monday - Friday.

Yaks Youth Center is open from 6:30 AM to 6 PM daily and runs 12 months a year.
- It is expected that this candidate will:
- engage the children in meaningful conversation and activities.
- encourage the children to be as independent as they can.
- Exercise patience and time management so that the students can learn from experiences without being rushed.
- Play with the children, doing child focused activities such as puzzles, art, and reading.
- Follow daily routines set by the lead teacher.
- Perform delegated tasks and responsibilities.
- Keep the classroom tidy, hygienic, and in good condition.
- Do 15 hours of training in the mandatory topics within the first 6 months of being hired and 15 more hours of training in the following eighteen months. (mandatory)
A minimum high school diploma, or GED is required. An associateΓ’β¬β’s degree is preferred.ΓΒ
