Job Description

We are seeking full-time and part-time Special Education Itinerant Teachers (SEIT) to provide educational services for preschool children ages 3 to 5 years old, in NY's 5 boroughs (Manhattan, Bronx, Brooklyn, Queen, and Staten Island). SEIT typically provides educational support to preschoolers with disabilities in their preschool, at the student's home, and/or in the community. Responsibilities
  • Provide specialized individual instruction directly to the student.
  • Provide SEIT services to help a child with developmental disabilities achieve their next goal.
  • Plan and provide therapy to children ages 3 to 5 years old.
  • Administer services by implementing programs as per IEP mandates.
  • Support teachers in the development of daily lesson plans.
  • Integrate IEP goals and services into daily learning and routines.
  • Implement, coordinate, and monitor child's behavior management program.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team communication and service plans.
  • Collaborate and communicate with OCS staff, preschool directors, and teachers.
  • Coordinate and communicate child's educational programs with OCS staff, teachers, therapists, and parents.
  • Gather progress reports from related service providers.
  • Maintain a schedule of mandated therapy sessions.
  • Maintain appropriate and complete documentation of sessions.
  • Maintain digital and written records of current goals.
  • Submit all documents in a timely manner.
  • Make appropriate recommendations for services, requesting reviews and submissions of the annual reports utilizing OCS digital tools.
Qualifications

License/Certification:

  • NYS Students with disabilities Birth-2nd grade (Required)
  • NYS Special Education Certification Birth-2nd grade (Required)

Preferred:

  • MasterÒ€ℒs degree
  • Minimum Education Level: NYS Teacher Certification
  • Preferred Education Level: Master's Degree
