The Glen Cove Child Day Care Center, Inc. programΓΒ provides federally funded preschool Head Start Early Childhood education and family services to 114 low-income children and their families residing in the agencyΓ’β¬β’s service area: The City of Glen Cove, and the communities of Bayville, Glen Head, Glenwood Landing, Locust Valley, Sea Cliff, Old Brookville, and Oyster Bay all in Nassau County. In addition, the agency provides state-subsidized and private childcare for infants and toddlers, preschoolers, and grade school children (during major school holidays and summer) for working parents in these communities.
Develop and implement plans for classroom routines, individual, small group and whole group experiences for the children.
Preschool Teacher
Duties:
- Plan and implement age-appropriate educational activities for preschool-aged children
- Create a nurturing and stimulating environment that promotes learning and development
- Teach basic literacy skills, including letter recognition, phonics, and reading comprehension
- Provide early intervention strategies for children with special needs or developmental delays
- Foster social-emotional development through positive behavior management techniques
- Collaborate with parents and guardians to support children's individual needs and goals
- Maintain a safe and clean classroom environment
- Utilize effective classroom management techniques to ensure a productive learning environment

Qualifications:
- CDA credentials
- Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field preferred
- Previous experience working with preschool-aged children in a childcare or educational setting
- Knowledge of early childhood development principles and best practices
- Familiarity with special education strategies and resources
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with children, parents, and colleagues
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles and abilities
- Patience, creativity, and enthusiasm for working with young children
