Organization Statement

The SUNY Cobleskill Campus Child Care Center, located in Schoharie County, has been in operation since 1984 serving preschool children, ages three to five.   It is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to serving college students and state employees, and may enroll community families when space allows.  In 1986, we expanded our center and provided care for infants, toddlers, preschool, and school age children.  In 2001, we extended our program again to include a young toddler room and a preschool room, in addition to our existing classrooms.  In the summer of 2004, we moved to our new Child Care Center that was constructed on campus near the Curtis Mott building.

The Campus Child Care Center is a training site for college students majoring in Early Childhood and related disciplines.  College faculty employed in the Early Childhood Division of the College supervises the students. The Campus Child Care Center is an integral part of the Cobleskill Agriculture and Technical College and utilizes the strengths and resources of the College.  Child Care is provided as a service to parents who are students, staff, faculty or state employees. Campus Child Care Center is committed to providing quality childcare for young children and their families; that is, a level of care that is concerned with each child’s total development, including their relationship with their own family.

Mission Statement: “To provide the highest quality care possible.â€

The mission of the Center is to provide a safe, stimulating, enjoyable, learning environment for children ages six weeks to twelve years. We strive to provide a safe, stimulating learning environment for the enrolled children by nurturing their self-esteem while fostering their well-being. We facilitate social development, foster creativity, nourish and maintain emotional health, as well as encourage self-discipline and self-control. Our program promotes language development and encourages cognitive growth while working cooperatively with parents and the community.
