Buckle My Shoe Preschool, established in 1981 by Linda Ensko, M.Ed., is dedicated to meaningful and joyful learning. We offer curriculum for children ages three months to five years old. Our programs integrate developmentally appropriate education, drawing from the tenets of Jean Piaget, the Bank Street Philosophy of teaching, and the Reggio Emilia approach to early education. We believe in parental and community involvement, reflective documentation of learning experiences, respect for children's process, and the power of play.
We are seeking a warm, highly organized, and innovative Teacher's Assistant to join our early childhood education team. In this role, you will bring a strong passion for early childhood development and a deep understanding of the unique responsibilities involved in working with the education of young children. The ideal candidate is a collaborative team player who communicates professionally with families, embraces continuous professional growth, and is eager to work within a Reggio Emilia-inspired learning environment.
- Classroom Leadership & Collaboration
- Foster a nurturing, safe, and creative classroom environment that promotes trust with every family.
- Partner and collaborate with co-workers and lead teachers on documentation, daily operations, and classroom activities.
Model professional, well-mannered, and enthusiastic behavior daily.
- Curriculum & Philosophy Integration
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of developmentally appropriate practices.
- Implement and support the ongoing principles of emergent curriculum.
Ensure classroom practices consistently align with Department of Health (DOH) standards.
- Parent Communication & Engagement
- Maintain highly professional, clear, and proactive daily communication with parents via face-to-face interactions (drop-off/pick-up) and digital platforms.
Actively encourage and facilitate parent involvement in the school community.
- Professional Development
- Participate regularly in staff development, workshops, and ongoing educational training sessions.
CDA or associate degree or higher. 2 years of experience is preferred.
- Minimum Education Level: CDA Credential
- Preferred Education Level: Bachelor's Degree
