Wee Luv’Em Daycare is a private, non-profit, NAEYC-accredited early childhood program located on the grounds of the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Northport, New York. We provide high-quality child care services to the children of VA employees, as well as families in the surrounding community, on a first-come, first-served basis. The VA Medical Center campus is supported by its own dedicated Police and Fire Departments, offering an added level of safety and security.
Wee Luv’Em is licensed by the New York State Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) and accredited by the NAEYC Academy for Early Childhood Program Accreditation. We are also proud members of the Child Care Council of Suffolk County.
Wee Luv'em Daycare is seeking a caring, dependable, and enthusiastic Assistant Teacher to join our team. The Assistant Teacher will work closely with the Lead Teacher and daycare staff to provide a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment where children can learn, play, and develop.

- Ability to follow directions and work effectively as part of a team.
- Previous childcare, daycare, teaching, babysitting, or related experience is preferred.
- Must be able to maintain a professional and positive attitude in a busy childcare environment.
Must meet all applicable state and childcare center requirements for the position.

Responsibilities
- Assist the Lead Teacher with daily classroom activities, lessons, and routines.
- Help create a warm, positive, and age-appropriate learning environment.
- Supervise children closely and maintain a safe and clean classroom.
- Support children's social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development.
- Assist with activities including arts and crafts, music, story time, outdoor play, and educational games.
- Help with meals, snacks, diapering/toileting, handwashing, and other daily care routines as needed.
- Encourage positive behavior and help children develop appropriate social skills.
- Communicate respectfully and professionally with children, families, teachers, and management.
- Assist with classroom organization, cleaning, sanitizing, and maintaining supplies.
- Follow daycare policies, health and safety procedures, and applicable childcare regulations.
- Observe and communicate children's needs, behaviors, and progress to the Lead Teacher.
- Participate in staff meetings, training, and professional development as required.
- Step in to support other classrooms or staff members when needed.
