The Baruch College Early Learning Center (ELC) provides childcare services to CUNY students, faculty and staff. The Center is deeply committed to providing reliable, high-quality children services, allowing students to achieve their degrees, while strengthening families and uplifting the wider community. As part of its Mission, the Center provides a developmentally appropriate learning environment for infants and children through 5 years-old, with referral and intervention services when needed. The Center also offers a range of family support services to improve the lives of student-parents.
The Baruch College Early Learning Center (ELC) is seeking a full-time assistant-teacher for a preschool classroom. The preferred candidate for this position will work closely with the ELC teaching team to provide an enriched learning environment for two-year-old children in a classroom setting.
The assistant teacher works closely with the lead teacher and other classroom aides to implement the daily operations of the classroom through Daily thoughtful interaction with children and their families
- Assist with the development and implementation of responsive and meaningful curriculum
- Assist in maintaining a safe (NYCDOHMH regulated), aesthetically pleasing, culturally and developmentally responsive classroom environment
- Involvement in on-going professional development initiatives; including staff meetings, NYCDOHMH required health and safety trainings and maintaining current and relevant knowledge of early education and perspectives
- Assist with all aspects of classroom maintenance
The preferred candidate will hold an associate’s degree or CDA in Early Childhood Education or, college courses in Early Childhood Education and experience in an early childhood classroom setting with preschool aged children. Candidates must be warm, supportive of very young children and responsive to their needs, as well as a hard-working and organized team player.
