Duties
- Develop and implement dynamic, age-appropriate curriculum plans that incorporate literacy education, math, physical education, and Montessori methods where applicable.
- Create a warm, safe, and inclusive classroom environment that promotes positive behavior management and supports individual child development needs.
- Engage children in meaningful learning activities that foster curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking aligned with childhood development principles.
- Collaborate with families to communicate children's progress, address concerns related to special education or early intervention needs, and support child welfare.
- Manage classroom routines efficiently while maintaining compliance with mandated reporting laws and health and safety standards.
- Utilize classroom management techniques to maintain an organized space conducive to active learning and child development instruction.
- Incorporate assessments such as standardized testing or formative evaluations to monitor progress and tailor instruction accordingly.
Preschool Teacher Responsibilities
- Plan and implement age-appropriate lesson plans and educational activities.
- Create a safe, nurturing, and engaging classroom environment.
- Foster children's social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development.
- Supervise children at all times to ensure their health and safety.
- Observe, assess, and document each child's progress and development.
- Encourage positive behavior using appropriate classroom management techniques.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding their child's progress and daily activities.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and stimulating learning environment.
- Collaborate with fellow teachers and staff to support children's learning and well-being.
- Prepare classroom materials and learning centers to promote hands-on exploration.
- Follow all licensing regulations, health and safety policies, and school procedures.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and school events as required.
- Assist with mealtimes, toileting, and other daily routines as needed.
- Promote inclusion and adapt teaching strategies to meet the individual needs of each child.
Qualifications
- Proven experience working with children in preschool settings or daycare environments, with a strong understanding of childhood development stages.
- Demonstrated expertise in curriculum development, lesson planning, and classroom management tailored for young learners.
- Knowledge of education practices, early intervention strategies, and behavior management techniques.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with colleagues and engage families positively.
- Valid certifications in early childhood education or preschool teaching are highly desirable; ongoing professional development is encouraged.
- Ability to adhere to mandated reporting laws and uphold child welfare standards diligently.
- Minimum Education Level: Some College Credits
- Preferred Education Level: Associate's Degree
