My name is Robyn Abrahams and I am the Director of Georgia L. McMurray BAT Kids Center located in Brooklyn NY. We have a friendly, happy, supportive educational environment. We are looking to add to our team.
My school is seeking an Assistant Teacher who will be a flexible, nurturing, supportive team player who reinforces school operations by assisting the teaching team with the children in your charge. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to assisting the Lead Teacher with lesson plans and activities, supervising safety, maintaining classroom cleanliness, managing children's hygiene such as handwashing, toileting and diapering, attending team meetings and providing input and ideas, and attending staff development sessions.
The position is Full Time and consists of a 7.5 hour work day, Monday-Friday. All staff enjoy a 45 minute daily lunch break with the option of a provided lunch. The position also includes health, dental and vision benefits upon beginning the position. There is a pension, 401K and a Union(DC 37) included. We have free parking on the premises if you are a driver. The salary is based on the Union contract.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Including, but not limited to, the following:
*Engage children in activities and play that stimulates their development
*Appropriately supervise children while keeping them safe at all times
*Assist children with activities of daily life (e.g., diapering/restroom use, feeding, dressing)
*Approach parents daily and speak with them about their child(ren)
*Help facilitate daily activities that are developmentally appropriate for preschoolers
*Creating and maintaining an environment that is clean, organized, and safe for all children *Establish a professional level of rapport with each family in order to provide quality care and friendly service
*Assist the Lead Teacher in implementing curriculum and planning daily activities that are developmentally appropriate for young children
*Communicate with the Lead Teacher regarding all aspects of the children’s care as well as classroom management
*Maintain a professional self-image and project the values of the organization at all times
ASSISTANT TEACHER QUALIFICATIONS:
*Have a high school degree or equivalent education
*Have at least 1 year of experience working with children and/or a certificate in early childhood education or currently working towards the completion of one
*Submit to various background checks including those completed through the Department of Education and the Department of Health
*Complete a physical and provide a physician’s documentation
*Be mentally and physically capable of caring for a large group of children
*Possess a strong work ethic, be punctual, and have minimal absences
*Have an awareness of the unique needs of young children and have appropriate expectations of their abilities
*Be able to kneel, bend, squat, lift, push, pull, and carry children
*Be available for full-time employment
*Have dependable transportation
- Minimum Education Level: Highschool Graduate or GED
- Preferred Education Level: Associate's Degree
