The Medical Center Nursery School seeks to introduce children to life in a community, where they learn to comfortably share space and materials and navigate social situations independently. Mastered, experienced teachers observe children at work and play, informing curriculum choices based on studentsβ interests and social development. This process occurs in an intimate, enriched environment designed to encourage collaborative play, exploration and problem solving.
This teacher will be responsible for all aspects of managing a classroom of 2 year-olds with the help of two assistant teachers. Develop and implement emergent, play based curriculum focused on social interaction and investigation. Communicate with parents consistently, including three parent/teacher conferences per school year.
Create and maintain and stimulating, safe, clean classroom environment.
Develop and implements play based, emergent curriculum for 2 year-olds focused on social interaction, community and introduction to school
With assistant teachers, supervise children throughout the day
Create and Maintain an intellectually stimulating, safe, clean classroom environment
Participate in occasional school wide events, such as Parent Night in the fall
Communicate with families and coworkers
Complete trainings required by DOHMH in a timely manner
Observation and recording of children's behavior and development
Conduct three parent/teacher conferences per year
Other classroom duties as described by Director and/or in Staff Handbook

At least three years experience with toddlers or 2 year-olds in a play based environment
Collaborative, dependable individual with excellent written and verbal communication skills.Β Thorough understanding and appreciation of two year-olds
Masters and NYS Certification in ECE secured or in progress
Ability to lift 40 lbs and willingness to perform all classroom related chores as part of a team
Comprehensive background check required by NYC DOHMH
- Minimum Education Level: Bachelor's Degree
- Preferred Education Level: Master's Degree

Salary is for 10 month school year. Teacher may work during summer program for more hours.
