Job Description

The Early Head Start Lead Teacher sets learning goals and plans learning experiences by integrating knowledge of each children’s temperament, interests, gender, culture, language, learning approaches, understanding, misconceptions, and abilities and by working collaboratively with families and a range of consultants and coaches.

Responsibilities

The Early Head Start Lead Teacher must demonstrate competency in providing effective and nurturing teacher-child interactions, plan and implement learning experiences that ensure effective curriculum implementation and use of assessment and promote children’s progress across the standards described in the Head Start Early Learning Outcomes Framework, NYS Early Learning Guidelines, including for children with disabilities and dual language learners as appropriate.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Associate Degree or higher in Early Childhood Education, Early Childhood Development, or in a related field with a minimum of 12 credit hours in one of these fields of study.

One (1) year of related experience in an early childhood setting, preferably with age groups 0-3, through employment, practicum, student teaching, or volunteering in an early childhood educational environment.

Desired Qualifications:

Β·Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β  BA Degree Early in Childhood Education with a focus on Infants and Toddlers

Β·Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β  Two years or more documented experience working as a teacher in an early childhood environment with infants and toddlers.

Minimum Education Level: Associate's Degree

Preferred Education Level: Bachelor's Degree

*Will only consider someone who already has a CDA Credential with Infant Toddler Specialization, if they are enrolled in an Associate Degree program with Study Plan leading to the successful completion of an Associate’s Degree within 5 years of hire.
