Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in planning and implementing age-appropriate activities that promote social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development
  • Supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of all children at all times
  • Support classroom routines, including transitions, meal times, and rest periods
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and inviting classroom environment
  • Model respectful and positive communication and behavior
  • Observe and document children’s progress and behavior; communicate observations to the Lead Teacher
  • Foster a warm and inclusive classroom culture that supports all children
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff and center administration
  • Attend staff meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities
  • Follow all center policies and procedures, as well as licensing regulations

Β·Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β  Follow all OCFS, CDC, and Department of Health regulations.

Qualifications
  • Minimum Education:
    • High school diploma or GED required
    • Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or coursework in Early Childhood Education preferred
  • Experience:
    • At least 1 year of experience working with young children in a licensed child care or educational setting preferred
    • Familiarity with child development principles and best practices in early childhood education
  • Skills and Abilities:
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a teaching team
    • Dependable, flexible, and responsive to the needs of children and the classroom environment
    • Positive attitude and willingness to learn
    • Ability to take direction from Lead Teacher and support classroom goals
    • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs
    • Comfortable sitting on the floor, bending, kneeling, and engaging in active play
    • Capable of maintaining energy and focus throughout the day in a busy classroom setting
  • Clearances & Certifications (Required or must be obtained upon hire):
    • Background check clearance as required by state licensing
    • Health clearance and TB test (if required by state regulations)
    • CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain within a set timeframe)
  • Minimum Education Level: Highschool Graduate or GED
  • Preferred Education Level: Highschool Graduate or GED
