The Lead Teacher serve children at the institution by providing a safe and nurturing environment to support and develop their emotional, social, intellectual, physical growth and development. This teacher will work collaboratively with other teachers to ensure the successful operations of a classroom of children. This teacher will also work with a team of other teachers and family members to implement the curriculum to achieve outcomes for children of all abilities.
The Lead Teacher’s responsibilities mainly fall within the following core functions, though the performance of other tasks may be required:
- Planning and Collaborating
- Program Implementation
- Family Partnerships
- Communication and Service Coordination
- Record Keeping and Reporting
- On-going Monitoring and Self-Assessment
- Supervision and Human Resources
- Planning and implementing learning experiences that advance the intellectual and physical development of children, including improving the readiness of children for school by developing their literacy and phonemic awareness, print and numeracy awareness, their understanding and use of language, their understanding and use of increasingly complex and varied vocabulary, their appreciation of books and their problem solving abilities
- Establishing and maintaining a safe, healthy learning environment etc.
NYS Certification - Birth to 5 yearsÂ
Bachelor's or Associate Degree (AA or AS) in Early Childhood Education or other related field
