Assistant Teacher

Description:

Assistant teacher is responsible for providing assistance for lead teacher in early childhood education program for a group of 1-5 year old children that meet the early childhood education standards. The Assistant Teacher assist in addressing  all areas of development and meet the individual needs of each child. In partnership with parents, the Assistant Teacher help assist the lead teacher in observation and assessing children's development, plan children's curriculum based on child development knowledge, designs the learning environment, and implement and supervises developmentally appropriate learning activities.

Responsibilities:

• Assist Lead Teacher in developing curriculum and activities.
• Meet regularly with your team to develop weekly plans and activities.
• Supervise the classroom when the Lead Teacher is out of the room.
• Participate in the arrival and dismissal of children.
• Work with the team to fully implement an IEP or children with disabilities.
• Attend all staff meetings and in-service provided.
• Help maintain the facility clean, safe, and satisfactory condition.
• Help the Lead teacher working with parents in promoting child growth and development.
• Help Lead Teacher provide supervision at all times and support to children, staff, substitutes, and volunteers, including sharing daily program plans and discussing goals for children.
• Assist Lead Teacher in providing orientation and training for new staff, substitutes, and volunteers.
• Assist Lead Teacher set up and maintain a well organized, safe, and attractive classroom environment conducive to learning.
• Establish a positive relationship with each child's family and share information about child's day at the center.
• Help Lead teacher input data in the computer and children's observation
• Submit all reports on time as mandated.
• Keep abreast of current knowledge in the field of Early Childhood Education.
• Perform other functions as necessary or as assigned
