The New York State Education Department has recently revised its Early Learning Standards for pre-K through second grade. These publications provide resources by grade in one comprehensive document in a uniform format for teachers, specialists, administrators, and parents.
From a planning perspective, these documents highlight the importance of addressing children’s development and learning across all developmental domains. These resources are not a curriculum, assessment, or set of teaching strategies but rather, resources for the learning that students should accomplish by the end of prekindergarten, kindergarten, first, and second grade.
These resources include:
