FAQ

What if I have already started taking CDA classes at another program?

CUNY SPS CDA program is unable to transfer CDA hours or college credits into the program.

For this Project:

  • If you started the program AFTER October 1, 2022, it will not be accepted.
  • If you completed 40 hours or more prior to October 2022, then you can complete the program and will be required to connect with the Institute Advisor to submit proof of the Credential attainment.
Do I have to enroll in the credit-bearing CDA program at CUNY SPS even if I have an undergraduate degree?

For this project, you are required to earn a CDA if your undergraduate degree was not in early childhood.

Do I have to enroll in the credit-bearing CDA program at CUNY SPS even if I have an Early Childhood Education degree from overseas?

Typically, individuals with degrees that have been translated and evaluated and determined to be equivalent to an early childhood degree in the United States do not need to enroll into a CDA. Please submit a copy of your ECE diploma to one of our advisors.

Do I have to submit a copy of my CDA Credential or Early Childhood Education degree to prove completion?

Yes. A copy should be submitted to an Institute Advisor.

Can I take classes online?

Yes. Classes can be taken virtually via Zoom. Classes are held synchronously with set days and times.

How long does it take?

This is up to the participant. There are four college courses. Students can take up to two courses per semester.

I cannot start in September 2023. When is the next cohort?

The next cohort begins the last week of January 2024.

By when do I have to obtain the CDA Credential?

For this Project, you are required to hold a CDA credential by June 2025.
