Description:

JOB PURPOSE:  

The Facilities Coordinator collaborates with childcare directors to maintain the integrity for all childcare buildings. While establishing a working relationship with invested BSECDC staff members, vendors and contractors.

Responsibilities:

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Partner with center directors and custodians to implement procedures to maintain clean and sanitary facilities.
  • Identify needed repairs, report and follow-up as needed
  • Establish a working relationship with building management, vendors and contractors.
  • Communicate with contractors and vendors regarding repairs, construction and renovation projects in collaboration with center directors.
  • Facilitate the bidding process for projects with similar scope of work costing $3,000 or more. 
  • Submit bids to the Finance Director for review and final approval by the Executive Director.
  • Collaborate directly with the Finance Director to vet contractors and vendors regarding proper licenses, warranties and insurance.
  • Engage contractors based on reasonable cost and quality of work.
  • Monitor timeline for completion of all work performed.
  • Plan for seasonal maintenance of heating and cooling systems.
  • Collaboratively work with the center directors to recommend cleaning procedures to custodians related to outdoor play areas, facility sidewalks, cleaning or snow removal.
  • Monitor monthly fire drill logs and daily walk-through checklists.
  • Ensure exit doors function properly, exit signs are lit, all light bulbs are replaced.
  • Inspect for peeling and chipped paint are smoothed over and painted
  • Inspect that classrooms are thoroughly cleaned and sanitized, surfaces (window sills) are dusted, floors are swept and mopped, garbage emptied, rugs are vacuumed and disinfected, leaks and plumbing problems are immediately fixed, and damaged ceilings tiles are replaced.
  • Perform periodic water temperature checks in the kitchen and the children’s bathroom (between 90 and 115 degrees).
  • Plan and schedule regular range hood and grease trap cleaning and fire extinguisher maintenance; post schedule of visits complete with service providers’ dated signature.
  • Collaborate with the People Operations team custodian training for OSHA and Certificate of Fitness and other relevant training as needed.
  • Report and ensure that all violations are corrected within the allotted time.
  • Submit a monthly report of completed projects, inspections, and corrected violations.
  • Perform monitoring visits of each facility no less than once a week to ensure that compliance is maintained.

Qualifications:

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Degree or equivalent, some college credits preferred
  • F07, S95, W07
  • Minimum of 3-year experience in facility coordination
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, written and verbal communications skills
  • Proficient with Google and Microsoft Office, Microsoft Word, Excel applications

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:

  • Three (3) reference checks
  • Obtain mandated reporter training certificate (every two years) and other Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH) and Head Start Performance Standards (HSPS) training requirements.
  • Ability to pass Comprehensive Background Clearance through

    • Full physical examination with updated TB test, varicella, tdap, MMR (fees may apply)
  • If hired, Bedford Stuyvesant Early Childhood Development Center requires all potential employees to provide proof of full COVID-19 vaccination.
