Description:

The Center currently has an opening for a Group Teacher to work in its classroom of 4 year olds. The Group Teacher reports to the Center’s Educational Director.

Responsibilities:

The group teacher  has the following responsibilities:

  • Plan and implement age appropriate curriculum and activities that foster children’s cognitive, emotional, physical, and social development
  • Conduct developmental screenings and assessments
  • Prepare and maintain a stimulating classroom environment
  • Maintain written progress notes and records based on observations of children’s classroom behavior
  • Provide basic child care services
  • Hold periodic conferences with parents regarding their children’s progress and behavioral status
  • Supervise Assistant Teacher and Teacher’s Aide
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development workshops
  • Perform other related duties as needed


 

Qualifications:

Qualifications: Baccalaureate degree in early childhood education or a related field of study approved by the NYS Dept. of Education and valid New York State certification. Prior experience in a child care setting is preferred.
