Since 1985, our private, nonprofit early childhood program has been providing high-quality care and education for children aged 2 months to 5 years. Located on a college campus in Plattsburgh, we operate year-round, Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM. We serve families from the campus communityβincluding faculty, staff, and studentsβas well as from the greater Plattsburgh area.
Our developmentally appropriate, play-based curriculum supports children's holistic growth in inclusive, nurturing continuity-of-care classrooms.
As a host site for college students we support both young learners and emerging professionals.

We are seeking a warm, responsive, and dedicated full-time Preschool Assistant Teacher to join our early care and education team. The teacher will work in a continuity-of-care classroom with Preschoolers aged 33β36 months as of September 1. The ideal candidate will embrace a child-centered, inclusive approach and work in partnership with an experienced Lead Teacher, families, and administrators to create a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment and curriculum.
- Full-time, year-round position (MondayβFriday)
- Shift 9:00 AM and 5:30 PM, with one-hour lunch break

Responsibilities
- Build responsive, nurturing relationships with preschoolers and support their social-emotional development.
- Assist in implementing play-based, developmentally appropriate experiences aligned with childrenβs interests and developmental stages.
- Assist in maintaining a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment that supports exploration and independence.
- Assists the teacher in observe, documenting, and assessing children's development to inform curriculum planning and parent communication.
- Collaborate effectively with the classroom teacher, program leadership, and support staff.
- Foster strong partnerships with families through daily communication and family engagement.
- Participate in ongoing professional development, reflective supervision, and staff meetings.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma and
- Minimum of 1 year experience working with children under 13 (experience with children birth to 5, preferred)
OR
- Associateβs Degree and/or High School Diploma and Child Development Associate (CDA) credential, preferred with
- Minimum of 1 year experience working with children under 13 (experience with children birth to 5, preferred)

- Ability to work collaboratively and respectfully within a teaching team
- Willingness to learn and assist in implement the HighScope Curriculum approach
- Understanding of developmentally appropriate practice and responsive caregiving
- Minimum Education Level: Highschool Graduate or GED
- Preferred Education Level: CDA Credential
