The Economic Opportunity Commission of Nassau County, Inc. (EOC) has served low-income residents for over 50 years, providing comprehensive programs that support families and children. Our Head Start program is dedicated to fostering school readiness for children ages 3β5 through high-quality early childhood education and family engagement.

Position Summary
We are seeking a passionate and qualified Head Start Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will create a nurturing and stimulating classroom environment that promotes the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development of each child.

Key Responsibilities
-
Develop and implement developmentally appropriate lesson plans aligned with Head Start Performance Standards and the Early Learning Outcomes Framework.

Foster a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment conducive to learning.

Observe, assess, and document children's progress; use data to inform instruction.

Collaborate with parents and families to support children's development and learning.

Supervise and mentor teacher assistants and volunteers.

Participate in ongoing professional development and training sessions.

Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, including health and safety protocols.
Qualifications
Required:
-
Bachelorβs Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field with at least 12 credits in Early Childhood Education.

Minimum of one year of experience teaching young children in an accredited/licensed early childhood program.

Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19
Preferred:
-
Bachelorβs Degree in Early Childhood Education with New York State Certification.

Experience with Head Start or similar early childhood education programs.

Proficiency in a second language is a plus.

- Preferred Education Level: Bachelor's Degree
