The Indy Lab is a high-quality and progressive play-based nursery and preschool program located in Elmsford, NY. We are currently in the process of building a new school that will open in Ardsley in the Fall. The Ardsley location will begin with a half day program for toddlers, serving students between 18 months and 36 months. The Indy Lab's curriculum is based in the developmental science that suggests that using a combination of guided play and free play (or together called Playful Learning) builds abstraction, critical thought and imagination through community, respect, and independence among our students. We have curated our curriculum to create a weekly lesson plan based on a letter sound and theme of the week.
We are hiring an experienced and talented Head Teacher in our 18-24 month classroom. This teachers will lead our newest incoming students to their first school experience in the infant/toddler classroom, which we call our Goldfish cohort. Students will be in a 1:5 ratio with a Teaching Assistant alongside the Head Teacher. The Toddler Teacher will be responsible for supervising nap and while performing that task, assisting the Directors with administrative tasks related to the curriculum. This position will begin as a part time position, and will grow into a full time position once our Ardsley location is fully licensed.
At The Indy Lab, we follow the Department of Health's Early Learning Outcomes Framework (ELOF) goals across the five areas of development: physical/motor, language/literacy, cognition, social-emotional and approaches to learning. Our lesson plans are originally created and curated to target these goals across all our cohorts. We then use these goals to discuss a student's progress during parent conferences. We meet with parents 3x/year during conferences. Our morning schedule is composed of our three core segments: Playful Literacy, STEM and Drama and our afternoon is based on uninterrupted free play and outdoor/active play.
