We are pleased to share that two of our staff members will serve on the New York Association for the Education of Young Children (NYAEYC) Governing Board. NYAEYC is an affiliate of the National Association for the Education of Young Children. Its mission is to promote excellence in early care and education for New York State children and families through education, advocacy and the support of the profession.

Jenna Pettinicchi, Assistant Director of the Leadership Initiative, was elected as Co-Chair of the Governance Committee. She will serve a two-year term and assist the Board and members of the association with the creation and effective use of bylaws and board governance policies. Cristina Medellin, Career Development Coordinator for the Long Island Regional Career Development Center and Leadership Initiative, was appointed as Chair of the Professional Preparation and Development Committee of the NYAEYC Governing Board. She will serve a two-year term and support the Association in its work to improve early childhood education professional preparation and development. The Institute commends Jenna and Cristina for serving in these leadership roles that will help to advance the mission and vision of NYAEYC and ultimately excellence for children, families, and the individuals working in the early care and education profession in New York State.
