Why is it important to make sure that employees are given access to an employee handbook when they have been hired, and that they sign a receipt?

Employee handbooks are a critical tool to assure good communication and a clear understanding of the requirements of the employer, and the rights of the employee. It is important to obtain and maintain a signed receipt from every employee to verify that all employees have been given access to the employee hand book.
