Description:
Under the supervision of the Educational Coordinator and Executive Director, the teacher will be responsible for the following tasks:
- Provide the children with a well-rounded program that includes all aspects of learning that is unique and pleasurable
- Use the Eight Domains of the High Scope Curriculum and the twenty-seven Domain Elements
- Provide an individualized learning experience that includes cognitive, social and emotional development, language development, creative and physical in a nurturing way that will be age appropriate.
Responsibilities:
- Plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences
- Develop schemes of work and lesson plans
- Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities
- Prepare classroom for class activities
- Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities
- Identify and select different instructional resources and methods to meet student’s varying needs
- Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment
- Use relevant technology to support instruction
- Assign class work and homework assignments
- Provide appropriate feedback on work
- Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures
- Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school
- Apply appropriate disciplinary measures as per article 47
- Perform duties including by not limited to student support, counseling students with academic problems and providing student encouragement
- Participate in extracurricular activities such as social activities, sporting activities, clubs and student organizations
- Participate in department and school meetings
- Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues and parents regarding student progress and student needs
- Keep up to date to developments in subject area, teaching resources and methods and make relevant changes to instructional plans and activities
- Familiar with High Scope Curriculum and Common Core Standards of New York State
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education
- New York State certification (or in process)
- Meet professional teacher education requirements of school district and state
- Relevant teaching experience (preferred)
- Knowledge of relevant technology
- Bilingual (preferred)
