Snug Harbor Cultural Center

Our mission is to provide a vibrant, regional cultural destination that offers dynamic programming in arts, education, horticulture, agriculture, and recreation for diverse cultures and all ages while ensuring a well-managed campus for all residents of Staten Island and surrounding communities. Snug Harbor's Spring Break and Summer Break youth programs offer a hands-on experience learning about the outdoors and unique spaces like the campus wetlands, Heritage Farm, and New York Chinese Scholar's Garden. The NYC Compost Project at Snug Harbor offers compost-related workshops and classes, runs the Master Composter Certificate Program, provides technical composting support, distributes DSNY compost & mulch, develops urban farms, and tables at public events throughout all five boroughs. The NYC Compost Project also operates neighborhood-based food scrap drop-off opportunities and ensures that those food scraps are composted locally. Please check our website for upcoming events such as natural dying, self care workshops, art making with compost and more.
