Valid and reliable assessment tools have been shown to give meaningful information about a child’s development and can effectively help identify developmental delays, if any exist.
Valid: An assessment is valid when it measures what we want it to measure and not something else.
Reliable: A sound assessment is reliable when the assessment is conducted accurately and consistently over time. The procedure would yield similar results if repeated or if done by different people.
