Description:

  • Reports to the Educational Director
  • Provides opportunities for the development of self-esteem social competence, physical skills, creative and intellectual growth through the development of an age-appropriate curriculum.
  • Ability to develop and execute a program of sound educational goals that are appropriate to the age and the development level of children. 
  • All interactions between the Lead Teacher and the children should be characterized by warmth, personal respect, individuality, positive support and responsiveness.
  • The Lead Teacher is responsible for the overall health and safety of all the children an for the overall health and safety of all the children and for the supervision of the Assistant Teacher and Teacher Aide.

Responsibilities:

  • Follows the curriculum and philosophy of Round the Clock Nursery.
  • Assesses the developmental growth of the children.
  • communicates with parents and works with other staff to improve the learning environment.
  • In charge of overseeing the general supervision and management of the classroom, including planning and preparing lessons, maintaining supplies, handling behavioral issues, and adapting to changing needs.

Qualifications:

  • Master's/Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university preferably in Early Childhood Education or Child Development or CDA Credentials or working toward a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education or CDA Credentials
  • New York State Certification (Birth-2nd grade)
  • Knowledge and skills in areas of child growth and development, parent education, interpersonal skills and written and oral communication
  • Health and physical ability to stoop and lift, visually and audibly observe and interact with toddlers.
  • Ability to manage job stresses - including performance and paperwork expectations and unexpected situations
  • Must show evidence of ongoing professional commitment and development.
  •  Must provide Doctor's note testifying to candidate's good health, free from any communicable disease and physically, mentally and emotionally able to carry  out the assigned duties in the daycare working environment.
