ABOUT THE JOB
The Henry and Louise Loeb Therapeutic Nursery School, which is part of the Harlem Child Development Center (HCDC), is for children 3 to 5 years of age presenting with developmental delays, communication problems, social/emotional/behavioral difficulties, or attention and learning deficits. A highly structured small group classroom (8:1:2) helps them build self-esteem, develop relationships, and become effective learners. Individualized mandated therapies, including speech and language, occupational, physical, play, and music, are provided. An interdisciplinary team approach, inclusive of the family, promotes best practices for understanding the child’s challenges and strengths.

Responsibilities:

The Teacher Aide is assists teaching staff with combination duties in the classroom. Responsibilities include:

Taking attendance
Distributing materials to students
Maintaining order within the class and on school grounds
Operating learning aids such as film, slide projectors and tape recorders
Preparing requisitions for reading materials and stockroom supplies
Typing material and make copies as needed
Other duties as assigned

High School graduate with current college enrollment
