The Assistant Teacher supports the Head Teacher and the Director by helping to create a caring and safe environment for the children and assisting in activities to improve the overall care and quality of education.  The applicant must be able to communicate, listen and work well with others in a team environment. Assisting the staff in implementing a quality educational program and in developing positive relationships with the children and their parents, the Assistant Teacher observes children’s interest and progress, and relays that information back to the Head Teacher. Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the implementation of curricula activities and encourage participation by children.
  • Actively engage in activities; manage cleanliness, order, and availability of classroom materials.
  • Maintain frequent communications with the Head Teacher through informal discussions.
  • Encourage self-help and good hygiene through behavior modeling.
  • Help ensure smooth, daily transition from home to the school.
  • Follow all center policies and state regulations.
  • Maintain personal professional development plan to ensure continuous quality improvement.

 

Qualifications:

Additional Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required

  • Must enjoy working with children and of 1-2 years of working in a preschool a plus.
  • High energy.
  • Ability to work well with others and be an integral part of the teaching team.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills.
  • A strong understanding of child development or willingness to learn.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification must be kept current.
  • Must clear full background check which may also include fingerprinting.
  • Must pass health screening and have had a TB test within the past two years (certification required).

Additional Information:

The Head of School is looking to hire to assistant teachers by August 15 due to growing enrollment.  Early Childhood Education Students will be considered.

Position is Part-time, 10 months.  Hours are 8:30 AM-12:15 PM, five days per week.
