Description:

Site Director for SCOPE Education Services School Age Child Care Programs

Part positions in various locations in Nassau and Suffolk County Elementary Schools

Hours 7:00-9:00 am and/or 2:00-6:30 PM M-F on school days, (follow school district’s calendar)

TIME & LOCATIONS REQUIRMENTS: Must be available to work extra hours if needed to maintain required ratio of students to staff. Must accept at temporary or permanent assignment change if needed.

All positions must consent and undergo:

  • Criminal background check and NYS Central Registry check
  • Successfully complete a physical examination by a medical doctor with TB immunization, being healthy enough to work with children
  • Must be able to complete 15 hours of paid in-service training on required NYS Office Children and Family Services topics annually

Responsibilities:

 

  • Supervises children and staff
  • Develops and implements daily schedule, age appropriate activities, behavior management plan
  • Ensures compliance with NYS Office Children and Family Services School Age Child Care Regulations
  • Monitors/Assesses performance of staff, delegates duties to staff
  • Communicates with parents and school staff
  • Completes reports as required including accident and incidents, attendance and time sheets
  • Complete First Aid/CPR Certification and Medication Administration training and keep certifications current, administer emergency medication when necessary
  • Ability to effectively handle emergency  situations and react accordingly
  • Must have the ability to perform general physical activities including but not limited to bending, standing and walking all for extended periods of time. Must be able to lift 20 pounds regularly. Must be able to maintain alertness in observing and dealing with situations involving groups of children. Must have adequate speaking, hearing and vision sufficient to handle groups of children.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written

Qualifications:

 

Two years of college with 18 credits in Early Childhood Development, Elementary Education, Physical Education, Recreation or a related field and two years’ experience working with children under the age of 13. Minimum one year experience supervising adults is required.

Minimum Education Level: Associate's Degree
