Full-Time Opportunity to work in our school age program!

The Guilderland YMCA is hiring! We will be offering a School Age Program at several Guilderland schools, starting this fall and we are excited to have you join our team! The Site Supervisor plans, manages, and supervises a developmentally appropriate childcare program at one small site (less than 30 youths). Creates positive, nurturing relationships with children and parents/caregivers. Promotes and supports the potential of all youth at site and facilitates peer-to-peer connections as part of the overall after school childcare experience.

Responsibilities:

  1. Plans, implements and supervises a developmentally and academically appropriate curriculum for the assigned site that meet the needs of the community, the school district, and adhere to OCFS regulations. 
  2. Maintains a positive working relationship with school personnel in coordination of the building site and related issues.
  3. Develops and maintains weekly and monthly calendar of activities for display to parents.
  4. Maintains daily schedules of activities, etc.
  5. Maintains an organized, clean and safe learning and recreational environment in all program areas.
  6. Develops and consistently maintains appropriate and professional communication with parents.
  7. Assists in the hiring; training; supervision to ensure excellent performance of all site staff.
  8. Supervises all site staff and provide input and written evaluations as requested.
  9. Establishes and trains staff, children and parents on emergency procedures in compliance with OCFS regulations.
  10. Manages and controls inventory of equipment and supplies, in accordance with the budget.
  11. Ensures all applicable OCFS regulations are followed.
  12. Maintains all required records and logs. 
  13. Maintains cleanliness of facility as a member of Clean Team.
  14. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  1. BA/BS is preferred.  School Age Child Care Credential OR AAS OR Two years of College with 18 credits in child development, elementary education, physical education, recreation or related field.
  2. Two years direct experience with children under age 13 required.
  3. One year of experience in a supervisory capacity required.
  4. Submission of NYS Medical Statement of Childcare Staff Form documenting physician clearance to work in a childcare setting as well as TB Test which meets Health and Social Service requirement.
  5. Maintain 30 hours of childcare related training every two years.
  6. Child Abuse Prevention for Supervisory Staff; CPR; First Aid; AED; Blood borne Pathogens to be completed within 30 days of hire.
  7. Excellent organizational, communication and problem solving skills. Basic knowledge of computers.
