Lead Teacher in a Pre-K Classroom

Sharon Baptist Head Start is currently accepting applications for the position of lead teacher.  Our ideal candidate is someone who loves working with children, their families, and staff.  He/she must be knowledgeable about early childhood education/ development and have experience working with preschoolers.  We are looking for someone who is committed to professional development and is dedicated to helping our chidren and families achieve their goals.

Responsibilities:

Under the guidance of the Education Director, the lead teacher's responsibilities include:

• Ensuring the safety and well-being of children by providing a clean and healthy environment
• Providing a warm, nurturing environment that is conducive to learning
• Screening children for potential developmental delays
• Implementing the Creative Curriculum and GOLD Assessment System
• Curriculum planning that ensures children meet school readiness goals and standards
• Observing and documenting children's actions and language as part of ongoing assessment
• Planning and individualizing for children with I.E.P.s
