This is an exciting, cutting edge opportunity to learn & practice the Multisystemic Therapy (MST) Psychiatric evidence-based model for youth with behavior and psychiatric problems in a team-oriented setting!

Seeking individuals with experience in child and adult psychiatry to help implement Multisystemic Therapy with Psychiatric Supports to court-mandated youth aged 12-17 and their caregivers.

MST is a psychiatric treatment program for youth with psychiatric problems within their home environment, intervening in the systems, family, and care-giving environment. MST helps reduce barriers that would normally prevent families from accessing services. The MST-Psychiatric team consists of 3 therapists, 1 supervisor and a case aide.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide psychiatric evaluations of child and adult family members.
  • Ongoing interface with the MST-Psychiatric treatment team concerning psychiatric and medical diagnoses that pertain to child and family.
  • Act as a community liaison with outside physicians/psychiatrists concerning additional medical or psychiatric care.
  • Provide the team with emergency psychiatric evaluations of child and adult family members as needed in the office or community
  • Coordinate hospitalization of child and adult family members as needed
  • Keep a close ongoing collaboration with inpatient physicians and clinical team when child or adult family members are admitted to a psychiatric hospital.
  • Work to develop and maintain a collaborative relationship with the physicians and staff of local psychiatric inpatient unit(s) and other residential treatment facilities as needed.
  • Coordinates all psychopharmacological interventions with family members.
  • Keep notes on the MST-Psychiatric Psychiatric Consultation Worksheet so these can be included in the client’s chart.
  • Work with the MST-Psychiatric supervisor to modify and implement safety protocols and documentation.
  • Attends MST-Psychiatric group supervision weekly.
  • Work with the MST-Psychiatric expert to develop and implement evidence-based psychiatric and psychopharmacologic treatment protocols.

Qualifications:

  • MD degree with licensure/board certification
  • Experience with families in the mental health, juvenile justice and child welfare systems.
  • Previous work with child protection and court systems.
  • Background in child development, child & adult psychiatry, and family systems therapy.
  • Management of suicidal or homicidal threats and family safety risks.
  • A working understanding of the culture and strengths of the families within our served population.
  • A thorough understanding of mandated abuse reporting laws.
  • Ability to work as a team member.
