Footsteps Childcare Inc. services children ages 6 weeks - 2 years. Each child is special and unique in their own way. Responsibilities:

Lead Teacher responsibilities:

Greet children and parents as they arrive each morning and assist with children and their belongings
Maintain a friendly yet professional attitude with parents and coworkers
Maintain attendance daily (including meal counts)
Prepare and post schedule & weekly lesson plans. Lesson plans are due a month in advance and should be submitted to the Ed. Director
Carry out daily classroom routines and schedule, spray, supervise bathroom time, share in diaper changing and participate in the end of day activities
"Family Style Dining" Model appropriate eating habits and sit with children during meal times to model
Maintain a log of all illnesses, unusual or abnormal markings, accident and incident reports including staff
Communicate with parents verbally, class newsletters, reminder and email if possible.
Call parents of absent children
Attend all staff meetings and alert Director of any major concerns
Organize, prepare and maintain accurate inventory of classroom material; Request in writing to Admin/Director for orders of your classroom materials
Create and change monthly bulletin boards
Notify the Director and Administrative aide of any physical conditions in the classroom which need repair
Oversee the operations of classroom
Comply with all DOH regulations and Article 47
Record daily observations of children
Maintain and clean and clutter free classroom before dismissing for the day

Qualifications:

Applicant should be at least 23 years of age and have the following qualifications:

(1) Associate's (AA or AS) degree in early childhood education; or

(2) Child Development Associate (CDA) certification and a study plan leading to an associate's degree in early childhood education within 7 years; or

(3) High school diploma or equivalent (GED); nine college credits in early childhood education or child development; two years’ experience caring for children, and a study plan leading to an associate's degree in early childhood education within seven years; or

(4) High school diploma or equivalent (GED) and five years of supervised experience in an infant-toddler classroom if currently employed in a permitted child care service; or

(5) High school diploma or equivalent (GED); and a study plan that is acceptable to the Department leading to nine credits in early childhood education or childhood development within two years; and a study plan leading to an associate's degree in early childhood education within seven years, if currently employed in a permitted child care service.
