Full time positions available in Bath Beach, Brooklyn or Richmond Hill, Queens
Responsibilities:
- Maintain a high level of professionalism as a role model for all team members
- Maintain standards of children according to the NAEYC Code of Ethical Conduct
- Assess developmental functioning and learning skills of students in all areas utilizing appropriate assessment too
- Write annual goals, behavioral objectives and intervention strategies corresponding with assessment in consultation with other disciplines
- Conduct CPSE annual review an requested review meetings and conduct CSE meetings as needed
- Evaluate student progress on an on-going basis
- Prepare developmentally appropriate daily activity schedules in coordination with other disciplines
- Design and manage an appropriate learning environment
- Prepare weekly lesson plans according to a planned sequence with IEP goals and plan/share with teacher assistants. Hand into Supervisor weekly
- Provide daily for group and individual instruction within classroom with appropriate early childhood curriculum
- Conduct transdisiplinary team meetings on a bi-weekly basis, ensure minutes are written and distributed to all team members and maintain in a file.
- Instruct an supervise teacher assistants and substitute teacher assistants in appropriate techniques to work effectively with children
- Communicate with parents on an on-going and as-needed basis to insure transition of instruction to the home in coordination with other discipline
- Participate in staff development activities
- Consult and interface with colleagues as members of a team
- Encourage on-going parent involvement at all times adhering to the Open Door Policy and invite parents to attend team meetings
- Write notes to all parents at least once a week
Qualifications:
- Must be enrolled in a Special Education Master’s Program (at least 18 credits)
- Must be certified to teach Early Childhood Education Birth - Grade 2 or Special Education Grades 1-12 (completion of related NY State Tests and workshops)
- Due to contractual reasons, you cannot have worked for the Department of Education within the last year
- Must be able to commute to Bath Beach, Brooklyn, Howard Beach, Queens, or Richmond Hill, Queens
- Please note, this program runs year round, 12 months a year. Hours: 8 AM - 3:30 PM
